Day 32: Why No Grits?
We are well into The Jesus Fast corporately and individually. Our relationship with our Father is being strengthened and we are being drawn closer to Him as we seek his face. Preparation is one of the most powerful actions we can take when seeking God’s face. It was one of the first things shared with us as a way to enter into this time of fasting and prayer. This puts us on full alert and ready for the things to come. 1Peter 1:1313 Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that…

Discover Life Family, Last week we informed you that a member of our church had tested presumptive positive for COVID-19, and that we were closely monitoring the situation. We also reiterated that these tests were only about 70 – 80% accurate. We have some good news today! The results have come back and the member is negative for COVID-19!! This is fantastic news! That means a couple of things. 1. We are no longer considered “Self Quarantined” and instead, now we follow the standard social distancing guidelines set by the COVID-19 Task Force. 2. Prayer works. (not that we ever had a…

Matthew 5:15-1614 “You are the LIGHT of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. The purpose of the Lighthouse A lighthouse is a tower, building, or other type of structure designed to bring light from a system of lamps and lenses and to serve as a navigational…

“And so, dear brothers and sisters,f we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. By his death,g Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place.” Hebrews 10:19-20 Do you have somewhere in your home? A “No No” place, a “Pretty Room” a “Man Cave”, in other words, a place that is sacred to you? I remember one of my Great Aunts had a “No No” room, that meant you could look but not touch! As you can imagine, it was very challenging and tempting for that 6…

A testimony: In November of 2004, we had just returned from adopting my son, Aleks, from Russia. When we returned home, I began a battle on the inside. At the time, I did not recognize that it was happening. I decided that I was just having a difficult time coping with the experience of being in the “sick” baby home, seeing all of the children who did not have moms and dads. Surely this would pass in time. Months passed. I continued having waves of sadness, and again, I just told myself that it was “normal” to feel that way.…

It’s been quite awhile since my grandmother, Nannie, went home to heaven. I still miss her to this day, one of the many things that I miss is when she would pray. Nannie was the kindest and most loving little lady anyone could ever meet, all 5′ 1” and 80 pounds, but possessed more Jesus than anyone I have ever met. She would point that bony finger and you said “Yes Ma’am”. She was a pastor’s wife during The Great Depression, and had 3 daughters, 2 were twins (one of which was my mother). As you can imagine, this was…

As we look upon the current situations of the world, we must remember God’s authoritative powers He bestowed upon us. Isaiah 61:1-3 says “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto…

Psalm 63[a]A psalm of David. When he was in the Desert of Judah.1You, God, are my God,earnestly I seek you;I thirst for you,my whole being longs for you,in a dry and parched landwhere there is no water.2I have seen you in the sanctuaryand beheld your power and your glory.3Because your love is better than life,my lips will glorify you.4I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.5I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods;with singing lips my mouth will praise you.To be satisfied in Him alone brings us…

Have you ever been in a situation where you look at your circumstances, and you are simply overwhelmed by all of your problems? I know I have…I remember a particularly challenging time in our business and finances, where things were difficult and no matter what we tried to do to make things happen, nothing happened. We fell behind on our mortgage, and foreclosure was on the horizon. The refrigerator was empty again with a little one to feed. I remember sitting overwhelmed talking to the Lord and telling him that I truly did understand now how the Israelites felt sitting…

Matthew 24:4 And Jesus answered and said to them:“Take heed that no one deceives you.5Formany will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’and will deceive many. Obadiah 1:3The pride of your heart has deceived you, You who dwell in the clefts of the rock, Whose habitation is high; You who say in your heart, ‘Who will bring me down to the ground?’ Romans 7:11For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it killed me. There are several ways we can come under the power of deception as evidenced in the above scriptures. We can be…
