And Jesus answered and said to them:“Take heed that no one deceives you.5Formany will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’and will deceive many.
The pride of your heart has deceived you, You who dwell in the clefts of the rock, Whose habitation is high; You who say in your heart, ‘Who will bring me down to the ground?’
For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it killed me.
There are several ways we can come under the power of deception as evidenced in the above scriptures. We can be deceivedby men, false prophets, those seeking their own agenda and gain. Often there is some desire within us that wants what we hear to be true and we ignore the still small voice of the Holy Spiritin order to satisfy the much louder voice of the flesh and soul. We deceive ourselves by being filled with pride thinking more highly of ourselves than we ought. Sin in whatever form it takes in our lives can form a veil that prevents us from seeing clearly leading to deception. The trouble with being deceived is that if you are deceived you don’t know it otherwise it would not be deception. I declareas we press into this fast and the voice of the flesh and soul are brought under submission to our spirit and in partnership with the Holy Spirit the power of deception is being broken off all of our lives.
“17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,”
Prayer: Lord I pray that your wisdom and revelation would be released and the eyes of our understanding would be enlightened. I give you free reign to reveal the lies we have learned to believe and that the light of your word would eliminate the dark places that has given refuge to deception. May your Holy Spirit come and fill us up for where the spirit of the Lord is there is freedom and liberty.Amen
