Day 11: Unity

John 17:11And I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, as we are one.Jesus was the perfect example of unity. He aligned himself with the Father’s heart and carried out His will. The Jesus Fast is an incredible opportunity for us as a church to fall into unity with the Father’s will for our lives. We get to, as a church, join along other believers in a crusade to bring Revival all…

COVID-19 March 9th Update

Dear Discover Life Family, I want to update you on what’s happening at Discover Life in light of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in our area. Currently, there are 2 known cases in Gwinnett County. Like you, I’ve been following this evolving story with great concern. I’ve also reached out to local city officials and spoken with a number of other pastors in the area to gain perspective on how to best move forward. Please read through this entire letter as it contains detailed plans for keeping our campus safe, and how you can help. While this is a rapidly evolving…

Day 10: Rend Your Heart

Joel 1:14Declare a holy fast; call a sacred assembly. Summon the elders and all who live in the land to the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord. Rend Your Heart 12 “Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” 13 Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love. Definition to Rend:Rend means repentance, not to tear your garments but instead of tearing your clothes, or even changing them, Joel…

Day 9: For the Joy Set Before Me

Isaiah 61: 10 – 1110 I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God.For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. 11 For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the Sovereign Lord will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations. Our corporate prayer nights are such a powerful time with the Lord. He speaks to us and through us. At one of our prayer events we were praying…

Day 8: Actions

1 John 3:18 Amplified Bible (AMP)18 Little children (believers, dear ones), let us not love [merely in theory] with word or with tongue [giving lip service to compassion], but in action and in truth [in practice and in sincerity, because practical acts of love are more than words]. This scripture stirred in me after the 6:45am prayer call on February 27,2020. A song swirled around it, the 1990 hit “More than Words” by Extreme.  What gripped me was:  Saying I love you Is not the words I want to hear from you It’s not that I want you Not to say, but if you only…

Day 7: Joy

James 1:2-4 2 Consider it nothing but JOY my [a]brothers and sisters, whenever you fall into various trials. 3 Be assured that the testing of your faith [through experience] produces endurance [leading to spiritual maturity, and inner peace]. 4 And let endurance have its perfect result and do a thorough work, so that you may be perfect and completely developed [in your faith], lacking in nothing. 1 Chronicles 16:26-27For all the gods of the people are worthless idols, but the Lord made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before Him: strength and JOY are in his place. Do you want REAL JOY in your…

Day 6: Repent

Matthew 4:17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” As part of the preparation for our 40 day Jesus Fast, one of our big prayer points was repentance. I’ve been stuck on this word for quite some time now.  It’s a concept that goes against everything our culture tells us.  See, our culture teaches us phrases such as, “Don’t get mad, get even.”, Or one that I’m personally working on, “I’m sorry IF….” Or “I’m sorry but…..”  So the idea of repentance really makes me think.  This week, during the…

Day 5: Glory

Romans 8:16-19 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. 18For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy tobecompared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.  As we press into the fast, strengthening our spirit to keep our soul in its place, hear the…

Day 4: Agreement

Matthew 18:19-20 “Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” During our Jesus fast there are things we are focused on and there is one particular thing we must have; let me explain.  Satan fears unity, he fears relationships – especially godly ones. He made no attempt to destroy Adam until Eve entered Adam’s life. Conversely, God celebrates unity. He honors agreement regarding breakthroughs and miracles. Be quick to recognize a God-sent…

Day 3: To Wait

The story that God weaves in the Bible is so detailed, so intricate, it is impossible to sum up in a daily devotion or simple quote. But if I tried, my message would simply be Jesus….Holy Spirit…He, the creator of all things and father of the universe, knew what we needed. He promised He would send a Savior, and He did. He promised he would send a Helper, and He did. For God so loved the world so much….he gave his only son, then that only son brought us news so good- God alive in us- if we just confess…
