1 John 3:18 Amplified Bible (AMP)
18 Little children (believers, dear ones), let us not love [merely in theory] with word or with tongue [giving lip service to compassion], but in action and in truth [in practice and in sincerity, because practical acts of love are more than words].
This scripture stirred in me after the 6:45am prayer call on February 27,2020. A song swirled around it, the 1990 hit “More than Words” by Extreme.
What gripped me was:
Saying I love you
Is not the words I want to hear from you
It’s not that I want you
Not to say, but if you only knew
How easy it would be to show Me how you feel
More than words is all you have to do to make it real
Then you wouldn’t have to say that you love Me
‘Cause I’d already know
Then I wondered; What if Daddy-God said this to me, today. What if He did a “check-up” on how I was doing with this in my daily activities. Do my love actions clearly speak and line up with what my heart cries out?
Do they?
Heart check: Do my actions speak for themselves and give witness of my Love for You? Would there be enough evidence that my words wouldn’t need to be spoken?
Can You say, “I already know?”
Heavenly Father,
May our actions of love align with our declarations of love. Holy Spirit, stir us when they do not and gently nudge us in the right direction so our actions will speak louder than our words.
In Jesus Name –
So good!
